ABOUT/MEANING: ‘So What’ is exactly what it sounds like - a refusal to give weight to anything that doesn't deserve it. Outside expectations, internal doubt, the constant noise of being perceived; the song strips it all back and pushes forward anyway. For TXT, there's a vulnerability underneath the defiance though - seven years of growing dreams and a happiness that keeps getting harder to reach. But what makes setting that weight aside possible isn't willpower - it's the people who stayed. The "so what" is grounded in that, not just rejection of the noise but the clarity that comes from already knowing what matters. A decision not to be defined by anything outside of what they've built together.

LYRICS - ENGLISH TRANSLATION (translations by @translatingtxt)

Everybody wants somebody who makes you somebody

Everybody wants somebody who makes you somebody

Everybody wants somebody who makes you somebody

Everybody wants somebody who makes you somebody

It doesn’t matter what anyone says, my attitude is so what

It doesn’t matter, does worrying put food on the table? So what!

TRANSLATION NOTE: ‘ㅇㅇ 밥먹여 주냐’ is a Korean expression meaning “Does ㅇㅇ feed you?” implying that doing that thing is meaningless. In this case, it means that worrying is unnecessary.

It doesn’t matter, throw it all off and just dance, so what!

Tell me, tell me, so what!

Tell me, tell me, so what!

Some say my dreams are too big

What if they come crashing down?

No thanks, chit chat chit chat chatter

My giant dreams - even the fragments are bigger

Seven years

Dreams that grew without an answer

The threshold of happiness always set too high

Sometimes it’s too much for me

I do me

I’m the director in this life of mine

This is my movie itself

Anyone but us is just an extra - tell ’em so what

Lace up your shoes tight again

Don’t overthink it, just run straight ahead like

TRANSLATION NOTE: The word used for ‘overthink’ is ‘깊생’ and it’s a shortened form of ‘깊은 생각’ (deep thinking), often used as slang amongst youth.

Say so what

Say so what

Everybody wants somebody who makes you somebody

Everybody wants somebody who makes you somebody

It doesn’t matter how far along you are right now

Everybody wants somebody who makes you somebody

It doesn’t matter what anyone says, my attitude is so what

It doesn’t matter, does worrying put food on the table? So what!

It doesn’t matter, throw it all off and just dance, so what!

Tell me, tell me, so what!

Tell me, tell me, so what!

It doesn’t matter if there are mixed opinions, so what

ADDITIONAL CONTEXT: This line might resonate with people who remember Yeonjun’s acceptance speech at the 2025 Hanteo Music Awards, where he said “I think that a lot of people might feel that my dancing or music has mixed opinions, but I won’t mind it and will keep working hard regardless to pop my hips even more.”

It doesn’t matter if effort betrays me, so what

It doesn’t matter, we just make the music we want

Gathering all the love that has stayed by my side

TRANSLATION NOTE: The word “모아 (moa)” means “to gather” in Korean, so this line about “gathering all the love” can be read literally as collecting love and support. At the same time, MOA is TXT's fandom name, creating a double meaning where the line can also be interpreted as gathering love from MOA themselves: "All the love from MOA who stayed by my side."

It’s still beating (my heart)

That’s all that matters (carry on)

The climax, the ending - it’s not yet

(let me just, let me just move)

I’m ready, baby

Let go of your thoughts (let go)

Just choose our own path (choose)

Oh, it’s you, my reason

Toss away your worries, so what

Beyond yesterday’s me (beyond)

With you by my side right now

We run down this endless road, yeah

It doesn’t matter what anyone says, my attitude is so what

It doesn’t matter, does worrying put food on the table? So what!

It doesn’t matter, throw it all off and just dance, so what!

Tell me, tell me, so what!

Tell me, tell me, so what!

It doesn’t matter if there are mixed opinions, so what

It doesn’t matter if effort betrays me, so what

It doesn’t matter, we just make the music we want

Gathering all the love that has stayed by my side

Tell me, tell me, so what

Tell me, tell me, so what

So what

So what

Tell me, tell me, so what

Tell me, tell me, so what

So what

So what

Helpful Context (Album Summary): '7TH YEAR: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns' is a quiet but defining moment in TOMORROW X TOGETHER's discography. For the first time, the group steps outside the long-running narrative framework that has shaped their music since debut, turning the focus inward - onto themselves, their bond, and the future they are actively choosing together. At seven years - the length of a standard K-pop contract, and a point where many groups face an uncertain future - the album doesn't treat continuation as something guaranteed. Rather than reaching for reinvention or dramatic resolution, it lingers in the uncertainty, reflection, and emotions that come with deciding to keep going. The "thorns" aren't just symbols of hardship - they're the direct result of choices made on their own terms, inseparable from who they've become. The "moment of stillness" exists within that tension: a pause taken not after the struggle has ended, but while living inside it. Rather than offering peace or certainty, it becomes a brief space for reflection before anything moves forward again. What gives the project an additional layer of meaning is the context surrounding it: all five members renewed their contracts, turning what could have felt like an ending into a continuation shaped by intention rather than obligation. Across six tracks, 7TH YEAR moves through anxiety, release, defiance, and reflection, gradually arriving at something quieter - not certainty, but curiosity about what still lies ahead, and a willingness to keep walking forward together.
