ABOUT/MEANING: ABOUT/MEANING: The English version of “Chasing That Feeling” shifts the song’s focus towards nostalgia and the desire to recapture a feeling that time has taken away. Looking back on a period when life felt simpler and more exhilarating, the boy knows those days cannot be preserved forever, yet refuses to let the feeling associated with them disappear. Rather than trying to literally return to the past, he keeps searching for another moment that can make him feel equally alive.
Time consequently becomes the obstacle at the centre of the song. Experiences that once seemed as though they might last forever disappear almost before we realise how precious they are, leaving the boy wishing for “one more chance” to experience something similar. The image of pressed butterflies suggests memories preserved like specimens - beautiful moments can be kept and looked back upon, but they cannot remain alive and changing in exactly the form they once had. This reinforces the song's distinction between preserving the memory of the past and continuing to search for new experiences in the present.
