ABOUT/MEANING: “Eternally” captures the confusion of trying to hold onto an important connection while everything surrounding it feels increasingly uncertain. Moving through dreams, memories and unfamiliar emotions, the boy continues searching for “you,” drawn towards a relationship that once offered comfort even as he struggles to understand what it has become. His longing for something eternal is therefore accompanied by an underlying fear that what he cherishes may already be changing beyond his control.
The song’s contrasting moods reflect this emotional instability, allowing comfort and unease, beauty and fear, longing and uncertainty to exist alongside one another. Dreams and memories offer traces of something precious, but they can no longer provide the uncomplicated refuge they once did. What remains constant is the desire to find “you” again and preserve a connection that still matters, even when the way back is unclear.
As the closing track of The Dream Chapter: ETERNITY, “Eternally” leaves the album’s central conflict unresolved. The friendship and magical world that once provided security have been disrupted, yet the desire for connection has not disappeared. The promise of “eternity” consequently takes on a more complicated meaning: permanence is no longer something the boys can simply believe in, but something they desperately hope can survive change, distance and uncertainty.
In this way, “Eternally” brings The Dream Chapter to an unsettled conclusion. STAR began with the wonder of finding someone who made growing up feel less lonely, MAGIC expanded that connection into a shared world of possibility, and ETERNITY confronts the painful discovery that even the relationships and worlds they believed could last forever are vulnerable to change. Even so, the longing to find one another again remains - carrying the emotional thread of their story forward.

CONNECTION: The image of a name once again continues a recurring motif throughout The Dream Chapter. In “CROWN,” being called by name accompanies the boy's experience of finally being recognised; “Run Away” asks “you” to call his name, while “Magic Island” connects remembering a name with preserving their shared magic. Here, the image has become more distant: the name of the person he is searching for remains on his lips, but they are still beyond his reach. The connection has not been forgotten, yet remembering it is no longer enough to bring them back together.
The meaning of this sad dream

CONNECTION: The “maze” may recall “Maze in the Mirror,” where it represents the disorienting experience of struggling to find and recognise oneself. In “Eternally,” the image becomes a “memory's maze”: rather than searching through his own reflection, the boy is now caught within memories of a connection he can no longer fully understand. In both songs, the maze represents something emotionally important that has become difficult to navigate.
