ABOUT/MEANING: “Forever” wrestles with the passing of time, but not by desperately trying to stop it. Life moves quickly, circumstances change and even the things we most want to hold onto cannot remain exactly as they are. Rather than grieving that inevitability, Yeonjun chooses to inhabit the present while it is still his - appreciating what exists now without demanding that it become permanent.

There is nevertheless a quiet restlessness beneath that acceptance. The song moves between dreaming about where life might lead and simply existing where he is, capturing the strange position of knowing that change will eventually come without yet knowing what that change will look like. “Wherever I’m meant to be” leaves the future deliberately open: there may be somewhere else to go, but he does not need to have reached it yet.

Coming immediately after the confidence of “Talk to You,” this reflective uncertainty reveals another side of NO LABELS: PART 01. Yeonjun can be completely self-assured in one moment and uncertain about what lies ahead in the next without either being less authentic. “Forever” finds peace not in making a moment last, but in allowing it to matter while it does.
