ABOUT/MEANING: “Ghost Girl” uses haunting as a metaphor for the way another person can become so deeply embedded within you that their presence feels impossible to escape. Like a ghost, “you” follow the boy everywhere - through his thoughts, dreams and even hallucinations - until the boundary between himself and the person he loves begins to blur. Yet rather than fearing or trying to escape this haunting, he willingly surrenders to it.
The ghost therefore represents the lingering, consuming power of attachment. Whether “you” are physically beside him or separated from him, their influence remains: he feels possessed by them, sees their silhouette when he wakes and describes them as both something capable of consuming him and the very thing that allows him to breathe. His devotion is deliberately extreme. He would rather remain vulnerable to everything this connection can do to him than protect himself through emotional distance.
Within The Star Chapter: TOGETHER, this turns enduring connection into something almost supernatural. Distance and separation may alter how two people can reach one another, but they cannot easily erase the place someone has come to occupy within you. The boy therefore embraces the haunting rather than trying to free himself from it: even when love unsettles, overwhelms or consumes him, being profoundly affected by “you” is itself evidence of how deeply that connection has become part of him.
