ABOUT/MEANING: “Higher Than Heaven” brings SANCTUARY full circle by returning to the image that opened the album. In “Heaven,” the joy of reunion makes being together in the present feel like heaven itself. “Higher Than Heaven” takes that feeling and looks forward: now that the boy has found “you” again, he begins imagining how much further they might be able to go together.
Rather than simply being carried upwards by love, the song emphasises a relationship in which both people encourage and support one another. Their connection gives them the confidence to dream beyond their present circumstances and imagine a future whose possibilities seem almost limitless. The sanctuary they have found is therefore not somewhere to hide from the world, but a source of security from which they can continue living, changing and pursuing what comes next.
As the closing track of The Star Chapter: SANCTUARY, “Higher Than Heaven” transforms reunion into continuation. “Heaven” began with the wonder of finally arriving beside “you”; “Higher Than Heaven” ends by looking towards where they can go together from here. Even “eternity” begins to take on a more mature meaning: not preserving one perfect moment unchanged forever, but creating countless tomorrows in which they can continue choosing and supporting one another. Finding each other again was not the end of the journey - it gives them a new beginning.

CONNECTION: This directly continues “Heaven,” where reunion teaches the boy that heaven is “not a faraway place” but something that exists wherever he is together with “you.” By the album’s closing track, heaven is literally “beneath my two feet.” Having found the sanctuary he once sought, the boy no longer needs to travel somewhere else to reach paradise; it becomes the ground from which he and “you” can begin moving towards something new.

CONNECTION: minisode 3: TOMORROW imagines “tomorrow” as a future the boy keeps moving towards in hopes of meeting “you” again, while “Over the Moon” declares “you are my tomorrow.” Having reunited, “Higher Than Heaven” multiplies that single promised future into “countless tomorrows.” Tomorrow is no longer simply the moment of reunion they were trying to reach, but every new day and possibility they can continue creating together.

Using starlight as a compass
CONNECTION: Stars have repeatedly represented dreams, promises and enduring connection throughout TXT’s story. In minisode 3: TOMORROW, rediscovering the “starlit promise” helps give the boy direction after losing his way; here, that symbolism becomes explicit as starlight itself becomes a compass. The connection that guided him back to “you” can now help the two navigate the future together.
Using your hands as support
We'll protect our eternity, our name
CONNECTION: Eternity and being called by name are recurring motifs throughout TXT’s story, often representing an enduring bond and the experience of being recognised and accepted for who you are. “Run Away” brings the two together particularly clearly in “Be my eternity / Please call my name,” a plea later repeated in “Deja Vu” as the boy rediscovers the connection he thought he had lost. “Higher Than Heaven” returns to both ideas after reunion, but makes them mutual: rather than asking “you” to provide eternity or call his name, the two now promise to protect “our eternity, our name” together.
Together we'll dream of the tomorrows that will continue
INTERPRETATION: The placement of these lines suggests a more mature understanding of “eternity.” Earlier in TXT’s story, eternity often appears as the hope that a precious relationship can remain forever. Here, after everything that has changed between them, the boy finally begins to understand eternity through “the tomorrows that will continue.” Rather than requiring their relationship to remain unchanged, eternity can mean continuing to choose, protect and build it across whatever changes future days bring.

This is our start line
CONNECTION: “Magic Island” first describes the place shared beneath the stars as “our start line / our star line,” while “Deja Vu” returns to that imagery as the boy remembers “you” waiting at the start line they once shared. After their reunion, “Higher Than Heaven” declares “this is our start line” once again. Returning to the beginning does not mean returning to who they once were; finding one another again gives them a new point from which to begin moving forward together.
The starlight that protects us
To places farther than paradise
CONNECTION: Earlier chapters repeatedly treat paradise as an imagined escape from painful reality, most explicitly through Neverland in The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION. “Farewell, Neverland” ultimately chooses to leave that paradise behind in order to grow, while “Growing Pain” begins FREEFALL beyond “the end of paradise.” “Higher Than Heaven” now imagines travelling “farther than paradise.” Rather than returning to the fantasy once abandoned, the boy can dream of something beyond it: a future created with “you” while continuing to move forward.
