ABOUT/MEANING: “Love Language” compares falling for someone to learning an entirely new language. The narrator wants to understand everything about the person he loves, but finds himself “lost in translation,” wondering whether even familiar words, gestures and fleeting touches carry meanings he has not yet learned to recognise.
Rather than assuming he already understands them, he approaches love with curiosity, studying their signs from “A to Z” and asking them to teach him their “love language.” The metaphor captures the excitement of getting to know someone more deeply: love is not simply about expressing your own feelings, but learning how another person communicates theirs. As that understanding grows, the person becomes a source of light and direction in his life, transforming the unfamiliar language of love into something he wants to keep learning.
