ABOUT/MEANING: Nice to Meet Ya” captures the excitement of meeting someone who transforms an ordinary life into something unexpected. Familiar roads and scenery begin to look different when they are together, while simply seeing the other person makes the narrator’s heart overflow and his “temperature rise.”
The phrase “nice to meet ya” takes on new meaning as their relationship develops. With every encounter, the narrator discovers “a new you,” until eventually those repeated meetings reveal “a new us” - suggesting that getting to know someone also gradually creates something new between them. What begins as the thrill of attraction becomes a desire to keep meeting again and again, as two separate lives increasingly begin to move together.
LYRICS - ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Got nothing special
Same as always
Another ordinary, boring day
Repeating itself
But when I’m with you
Everything is unexpected
Even trouble can be fun
Everything feels right
Girl, you got me like, oh
At your smile
My heart overflows
Oh, I can’t help, gotta say
It was nice to meet ya
I just can’t forget you
I want to see you over and over again
Until the day we melt into each other
And, baby, when I see ya
My temperature rises
I discover a new you every time we meet
It’s so nice to meet ya
The same road
The same scenery
Looks different
When it’s the two of us
The sky looks even bluer
A flower swaying in the wind
I’ll give it to you
Just for you
Girl, you got me like, oh
When our eyes meet
Time stands still
Oh, I can’t help, gotta say
It was nice to meet ya
I just can’t forget you
I want to see you over and over again
Until the day we melt into each other
And, baby, when I see ya
My temperature rises
I discover a new you every time we meet
It’s so nice to meet ya
Drawn into your (eyes)
My (life) started moving
I became free
So nice to meet ya
I don’t want to leave your (side)
My (time) began moving forward
I became free
So nice to meet ya
It was nice to meet ya
I just can’t forget you
I want to see you over and over again
Until the day we melt into each other
And, baby, when I see ya
My temperature rises
I discover a new us every time we meet
It’s so nice to meet ya
So nice, so nice to meet ya (×4)
So nice, so nice to meet ya (×4)
