ABOUT/MEANING: “Panic” is Beomgyu’s deeply personal reflection on struggle, resilience and the transient nature of hardship. Rather than promising that pain can be immediately overcome, the song acknowledges what it feels like to remain inside a difficult period while holding onto the belief that it will not last forever.
Beomgyu has described this outlook as central to the song: “Everything is transient - it’s not going to last forever. In life, you face a lot of different barriers - they could be big or small, and some things really let you down. But I always have this mindset that everything too shall pass.”
The winter surrounding “Panic” consequently becomes both an emotional state and something temporary. However cold it feels while you are living through it, another season remains possible. Importantly, Beomgyu does not erase that winter once it has passed. Instead, he preserves those feelings within his music, allowing an experience that once caused him pain to become the basis for offering comfort to somebody else.
“Panic” therefore offers reassurance without pretending that everything is already okay. Sometimes perseverance begins with something much smaller: believing that the darkness you are experiencing now is not the entirety of your life. Winter may be where you are, but it is not where you have to remain forever.
CONTEXT: “Panic” grew directly from a difficult period in Beomgyu’s own life. He described the winter preceding its release as particularly “cold” and explained that creating the song became part of his own process of moving through it.
“The message that I’m trying to convey through my song is for other people to hear, but it’s also a message that I’m telling myself as well. At the time I was beginning to work on it, I was having a hard time, but when I was done, I felt so, so much better and very refreshed.”
This gives “Panic” an important dual purpose. Beomgyu wrote from his own need for reassurance while simultaneously hoping that sharing those feelings might offer somebody else the comfort he had previously found through music.
As his first solo song, “Panic” also allowed Beomgyu to introduce himself more directly through his own musical voice. As he explained: “I know many people have come to know me through variety shows, but I’d appreciate it if they could also see me as someone who speaks through music and connects with others on a deeper level.”
The result creates a meaningful cycle: music helped Beomgyu endure his own darkness; by turning that experience into “Panic,” he hopes his music might now help someone else endure theirs.

CONNECTION: During a 2020 livestream, a MOA reportedly asked Beomgyu how to overcome hardships and become stronger. Beomgyu responded that he was still learning himself and suggested that whichever of them found the answer first should share it with the other. This has led some MOA to interpret “This is my answer” as a possible callback: years later, Beomgyu returns with the answer he has found for himself.
