“There were days that brought this kind of darkness to me as well and I endured that period of time by listening to music that I liked. the way I gained a great amount of comfort through music, I believe that somebody else will also find solace in my voice and my stories. I sincerely wish that my song reaches the depths of your heart and becomes the strength for you to keep walking forward.” – Beomgyu Weverse Letter, 25 March 2024

Beomgyu’s first solo song Panic is a deeply personal reflection on struggle, resilience, and the transient nature of hardship. Through this song, he captures the feeling of being trapped in a difficult period yet holding onto the belief that everything will eventually pass. “Everything is transient – it’s not going to last forever. In life, you face a lot of different barriers - they could be big or small, and some things really let you down. But I always have this mindset that everything too shall pass.”

He describes the winter prior to this release as a particularly "cold" time for him. Instead of erasing those memories, he preserved them in Panic - not just as a personal expression, but as a source of comfort for others: “People can have hard times and I wanted to create a song to give solace to them, telling them that everything will be OK. I wanted to give comfort to people who aren’t feeling the best.”

However, Panic isn’t just a message for listeners - it’s also a message Beomgyu is telling himself. “The message that I’m trying to convey through my song is for other people to hear, but it’s also a message that I’m telling myself as well. At the time I was beginning to work on it, I was having a hard time, but when I was done, I felt so, so much better and very refreshed.”

By sharing his own story through Panic, Beomgyu hopes that those who are struggling can find even a small bit of comfort: “I sincerely hope this song brings comfort to many people. For those facing hardships, I hope it helps them break down the walls in front of them, even just a little.”

He also hopes this song allows people to see a different side of him: “I know many people have come to know me through variety shows, but I’d appreciate it if they could also see me as someone who speaks through music and connects with others on a deeper level.”

Ultimately, Panic is an intimate and heartfelt reflection of Beomgyu’s own journey - one that acknowledges pain but also encourages perseverance. Though the song was born from his personal struggles, it carries a universal message: no matter how overwhelming life may seem, the storm will pass, and you will find your way again.

LYRICS - ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

Close my eyes

I just want to escape somewhere far away

Left here alone in this silent room

All alone

I can't pick up

The pain that has drifted away

It still remains the same

These nights are growing deeper

What if it had been you?

Beneath the dark night

Let's not stay here, but let it flow

In the days of bruises

With every step we take

You and I

Will find our way through

(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah)

This is my answer

During a 2020 livestream, a MOA asked Beomgyu how to overcome hardships and become stronger. Beomgyu shared that he was still learning how to do so and suggested that whoever figured it out first should share the answer with the other. Many MOA believe that this line was inspired by that livestream moment, as Beomgyu expresses that he has now found his answer to that question and is sharing it through his music, hoping it will help others facing their own struggles.

(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah)

This is my answer

(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah)

Even these cold winter days will pass

Hold on tight to my crumbling heart, eh

I don't want to run away anymore

Oh in this damn world

I'll say it loud and proud

In my empty heart

Let's not stay here, but let it flow

In the days of bruises

With every step we take

You and I

Will find our way through

(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah)

(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah)

(Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah, ah-ah)

Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

This is my answer
