ABOUT/MEANING: “Silence” portrays someone important as a place of calm within an overwhelming world. At first, the narrator relies on headphones to drown out the noise around him, feeling as though he is being carried away by the tide. Meeting “you” changes that: their presence becomes his “silence,” gently shutting out the noise and giving him warmth, stability and somewhere he wants to remain.
Silence is therefore not emptiness or an absence of communication, but a comforting space shared with another person. As the waves settle, even the colours and beauty the narrator thought he had lost begin to return. By repeating “you are my silence,” the song presents connection as a kind of refuge - someone whose presence makes a chaotic world feel quiet enough to breathe again.
LYRICS - ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Need my headphones to survive
Try to drown all the noise from outside
I was drifting with the tide
’Til you pull, you pull, you pulled me up
Something changes, can’t explain it
Will you stay with me?
When the world gets too loud
You are my silence
Your warmth
Gently covers my ears
The waves calm down
You are my silence
Stay here ’til everything is calm
Show me that nothing can go wrong
You are my silence
Woah-oh
You are my silence
Woah-oh
You are my silence
The colours that dwell in silence
Repaint us anew
All the beauty I thought that I lost
Starts to flow, to flow, inside of us
Something changes, can’t explain it
Will you stay with me?
When the world gets too loud
You are my silence
Your warmth
Gently covers my ears
The waves calm down
You are my silence (You are my silence)
Stay here ’til everything is calm
Show me that nothing can go wrong
You are my silence
Woah-oh
You are my silence
Woah-oh
You are my silence
Woah-oh
You are my silence
Woah-oh
You are my silence
