ABOUT/MEANING: “SSS (Sending Secret Signals)” portrays a hidden romance as a thrilling secret mission. The narrator slips through crowds and imaginary laser traps to meet someone without leaving a trace, while the two conceal their connection from the world around them. Beneath that secrecy, they communicate through glances, lips and coded messages - the “secret signals” that allow their private relationship to continue unseen.
The song pairs its playful spy imagery with the recurring image of a butterfly drawn towards light. Attraction becomes something difficult to hide: even while pretending to be strangers and acting indifferent, they continue gravitating towards one another. The resulting mixture of excitement, jealousy and love leaves the narrator dizzy, circling like a merry-go-round.
“SSS” therefore captures both sides of a secret attraction: the exhilaration of having a private language that belongs only to two people and the difficulty of concealing feelings that naturally want to reveal themselves.
LYRICS - ENGLISH TRANSLATION (translation credits: @txtjpntransl)
The mission to meet you
Slipping through laser traps
No traces or footprints
Like some spy movie
From the crowd escaping
Hurrying to you
Exciting thrill
A roller coaster ride
I'm sending secret signals now
Read them, my lips
A fiery gaze, a flame
It's a simulated kiss
Hey, sweetest baby
Floating like a butterfly
Pretending to be someone else
Acting all cool
You land in front of my eyes
Without the world seeing our game
I send you a secret text
Codes beneath the surface, S-S-S
The tender wings quietly unfold
Reaching and yearning for the light
It flickers, dazzling
Dazed on the flickering
Like a merry-go-round
This jealousy and love, going around
This mission to meet you
Slipping through laser traps
No traces or footprints
Can't hide the light you're shining
I've learned to take the hurting
Will let the storm blow past me
Heal me, ayy, ayy, ayy
Romance and vitamins feed
Essential nutrients
The wind that lifts you like a butterfly
Hey, sweetest baby
Floating like a butterfly
Pretending to be someone else
Acting all cool
You land in front of my eyes
Without the world seeing our game
I send you a secret text
Codes beneath the surface, S-S-S
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh S-S-S
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh S-S-S
