LYRICS

Look back, the times of you and I that feel like a dream

Gather forever

Until we’re shining again

These opening lines resonates with the period of the song's release when TXT couldn’t meet MOA in person due to the pandemic, reflecting on the brief moments they shared from their debut up to the outbreak. However, there's also an extra layer of meaning here: the term MOA (모아) means “to gather” in Korean. So, the part of the line can also be interpreted as “forever MOA,” emphasizing the ongoing bond between MOA and TXT.

Remember? the day we first met

Only the little mermaid txt

‘Little Mermaid TXT’ refers to the nickname pre-debut MOAs gave TXT before their voices were revealed. Similar to the Little Mermaid who couldn't speak/didn't have a voice, the members communicated with fans solely through written social media posts before their debut.

Your name that I wanted to call out

Due to issues with the original fandom name, TXT didn’t receive their official fandom name until six months after their debut. Much like the Little Mermaid who lost her voice, TXT couldn’t call out our name until then.

(MOA MOA MOA MOA)

It’s a little embarrassing just with words

To show you my heart like this

So how about that, just the two of us?

(E-oh e-oh e-oh e-oh)

Dubaddu wari wari, dubaddu wari wari

Dubaddu is another way of saying ‘Tubatu’ which is the Korean nickname for TXT

He-e-ey whisper it

The secret between you and I

They say it's childish,

So what? It fits us

Soobin wrote this line to address his concern that people might find the phrase 'dubaddu wari wari' childish. He wanted to preemptively counter such reactions within the song itself.

One more time!

Dubaddu wari wari

Memorize this spell

Reference to the spells mentioned in 'Run Away': "Let's create a spell with your tears / So that you won’t cry again" & "I want to color the classroom with this sky-colored magic / So that the summoning spell can connect you and me"

Look back, the times of you and I that feel like a dream

Gather forever

Until we’re shining again

Kick back

Every moment that we’re together

Take my hand all night so I don’t go anywhere

Even on these ordinary days

Even on the days we lost the summer

Reference to their song 'We Lost The Summer'

Record it in our diary tonight

It’ll comfort you on our summer night

Reference to their song 'Our Summer'

Send to me

Walk with me

Don’t worry, just tell you story

Bad feeling? Feel silly?

Just remember our code

  • While 'dubaddu' is a way of saying TXT in Korean, 'wari wari' actually has no meaning and was added so that MOA and TXT have a secret code between them exclusively. This secret code is often used when MOA meet the members out in public where they will say 'dubaddu' (or do the accompanying dance move) and TXT will reply 'wari wari' as a way of acknowledging each other.

  • This secret code parallels the use of Morse code throughout TXT's discography (Intro to CROWN, pre-debut introduction videos, etc), reinforcing a unique and special bond that unites them and MOA since their debut.

Dubaddu wari wari, dubaddu wari wari

He-e-ey whisper it

The magic between you and I

Reference to their song 'Magic'

When you say it, you'll gain strength

In their previous work, TXT's songs have alluded to various forms of escapism, such as Platform 9 3/4 in "Run Away" and the island of 'Magic Island'. However, in this instance, they're expressing that the code 'dubaddu wari wari' is not about reaching a physical place of escape but rather about reminding you of a unique relationship (TXT x MOA) that serves as a form of escapism/strength.

One more time!

Dubaddu wari wari

Caught in this spell

Look back, the times of you and I that feel like a dream

Gather forever

Until we’re shining again

Kick back

Every moment that we’re together

Take my hand all night so I don’t go anywhere

I am here for you

Till the end, till the end

Till you call my name

Reference to the lyrics from their song 'Run Away': "Please be my eternity / Please call my name / Run away, run away with me.“

Here for you

I’ll be there, I’ll be there

Till the sweeter end

This line plays on the common phrase "bitter end" to express TXT's commitment to MOA. This wordplay emphasizes their dedication to ensuring a positive and fulfilling relationship, highlighting that their connection will remain joyful and supportive throughout their journey together.

Here for you

The words ‘let’s be together tomorrow too’

Reference to TXT's full name: TOMORROW X TOGETHER. The members say this exact phrase with their hands all together before big events and concerts.

Here for you

Please promise me that here

Dubaddu wari wari, dubaddu wari wari

He-e-ey whisper it to me

The secret between you and I

They say it's childish,

So what? It fits us

One more time!

Dubaddu wari wari

Memorize this spell

Look back

All the moments when you felt alone

Stand by me all night

We’ll be together forever

Kick back

The times we cried and laughed together

And for tomorrow that will come

It will all shine brightly

I am here for you

Till the end, till the end

Till you call my name

Here for you

I’ll be there, I’ll be there

Till the sweeter end

Here for you

The words ‘let’s be together tomorrow too’

Here for you

Please promise me that here

(Shine shine)

Until your shining,

Shining shining by my side

Helpful Context (Album Series Summary): Following the complexities and challenges that threatened the boys’ dreamlike world at the end of 'The Dream Chapters' and 'Minisode 1,' the 'Chaos Chapters' capture the disruption of this idyllic world as the boys confront the harsh realities and responsibilities of the world that begin to challenge their dreams and relationships. Their daily lives are thrown into turmoil, leaving them feeling frozen and overwhelmed until a transformative presence, represented as 'you,' appears before them. This series marks a transition from the nostalgic themes of earlier chapters to a deeper, more introspective examination of internal and external conflicts. Influenced by real-world events, particularly the COVID-19 pandemic, the 'Chaos Chapters' reflect the broader chaos and struggles inherent in youth.

Helpful Context (Album Summary: The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE): 'The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE' portrays a world where the warmth of friendship and youthful dreams is disrupted by sudden coldness and isolation. The album delves into the emotional freeze experienced when facing the harsh realities of growing up, such as alienation, heartbreak, and confusion. It reflects TXT's efforts to navigate personal and external conflicts amidst the chaos of adolescence. The narrative conveys a sense of being stuck in time, grappling with changes and challenges. Yet, amidst this emotional coldness, the appearance of 'you,'* a special someone, symbolizes warmth and connection, offering moments of hope and resilience.

*The character of 'you' is intentionally broad, allowing for various interpretations. 'You' can be seen as a platonic figure (as depicted in the MVs), a romantic interest (which ties into the transitional chapter Minisode 2), or MOA, TXT’s fans (building on the Dream Chapters, which narrate TXT’s journey from trainees to debut). This broad interpretation of 'you' enables a wide-ranging illustration of TXT’s personal experiences as well as the experiences of youth more broadly.

Helpful Context (Album Summary: The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT OR ESCAPE): 'The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape' sees TOMORROW X TOGETHER build upon the narrative of 'The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE,' by delving deeper into their internal and external struggles. The album’s title reflects the crucial choices they face: whether to confront their challenges directly or seek escapism. As a repackage of 'The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE,' this edition introduces two new tracks that expand on the themes of the original album, exploring the tension between facing adversity and the allure of escape. It emphasizes their ongoing battle with fears and uncertainties, showcasing their determination to navigate obstacles and find their path forward while underscoring the value of supportive relationships. The album captures the essence of choosing between fighting against the chaos or finding solace together.
